I was due to open the exhibition of Burns and Burnsiana in the Linen Hall Library on Thursday evening but in the end I was unable to do so because of the ongoing talks at Hillsborough Castle. That was a disappointment because I am a member and regular user of the library and have a special interest in their Burns collection. Nevertheless I am delighted that the Linen Hall is considering how to encourage greater use of its collections, including the Gibson collection of Burns and Burnsiana, and to make them more accessible.
I wish the chief librarian John Killen and his colleagues well and would encourage anyone to visit the library to see the exhibition, which runs until 20 March.
